Sometimes we see the return of a game series so legendary that all you can do to believe is watch the trailer and wait to see if it actually releases.

That's very much the case with Battletoads, a series renowned for being harder than any Soulslike around.

Well, if you're one of the many fans of the series, or if you're just somebody that has heard tales of its status, then maybe you'd like to know a little bit more about it.

Good news, we know when the new Battletoads is releasing, and we've even got a cool new trailer to watch.

When is the new Battletoads coming out?

After 26 years of waiting, the next Battletoads game is coming out on August 20th.

It's been two years since it was announced, but that's about right given how long games take to make and isn't that bad when you consider how long other games make us all wait.

Obviously, that's not including the 26 years we had to wait prior to the announcement, but hey, it worked for Streets of Rage 4.

The new Battletoads will be heading to both Xbox One and PC.

What else do you need to know about Battletoads?

Battletoads is a beat 'em up game where you take control of one of three toads, all of whom have gross names. The names are Rash, Zitz, and Pimple, and they spend a lot of their time being beaten up.

It's famous for being incredibly tough, with there being bike sections which were the bane of many who played it.

It's had a massive style overhaul for the new entry, and even comes equipped with some difficulty options to allow more people to play through it in the way they want.

We've even got a new trailer to look at, so we're going to leave you with that to enjoy.
