Microsoft announced that it would discontinue its Rewards app in April, ending streaks for players in favour of a new Rewards hub.

A Rewards app message on Xbox informed players that as of April Microsoft will stop publishing tasks and offers in the app on the console

In addition, all weekly set and streak tasks will end as of April 15, 2024.

Previously, the Rewards app had players trying to fulfill daily and weekly tasks with the aforementioned streaks, earning further points to spend on the Rewards store.

This new iteration of the Rewards initiative will completely replace the old system with the new Rewards hub.

Microsoft Rewards hub will simplify things going forward, focusing on playing games and making purchases on the store as the main way to earn points.

The new details on the Rewards hub are listed on the official Xbox website.

Visit the new Rewards hub on Xbox

"The Rewards hub is your central location for all Rewards with Xbox-related activities and offers. Visit the hub on your Xbox console, Xbox app for mobile, and the Xbox app for Windows PC, and find the Rewards hub directly on your profile page. Complete your available activities and claim your points to start earning.”

Shop & Earn

"Be rewarded for your purchases! As you level up get up to 20 points per dollar spent on qualifying digital purchases at the Microsoft Store.”

Turn in Quests

"Be rewarded for your purchases! You start earning 1 point per dollar spent on qualifying digital purchases at the Microsoft Store as a level 1, and may get up to 20 points per dollar as you progress.”

Earn more with Microsoft Rewards

"Rewards with Xbox is part of the Microsoft Rewards program. The points you earn playing games, searching on Microsoft Bing, and shopping at the Microsoft Store all accrue to your Microsoft Rewards points balance.”

Rewards hub

"We have reimagined and simplified the Rewards experience on Xbox for all players, centering it around playing games and activities we all love. The Rewards hub is now easy to find and integrated on your Xbox console, Xbox app for mobile, and the Xbox app for Windows PC, directly on your profile page. You now can see all your available Quests on the Rewards hub, on any device.”

While much of this is very similar to the existing Rewards program, previously, Xbox Rewards was split across three separate experiences.

The new system hopes to streamline things, combining all three into one location. With a new Xbox dev kit reportedly being certified in South Korea, could these changes be paving the way for the new diskless Xbox Series X seen in the FTC leak last year?
