Is Boneworks on Oculus Quest 2? That's a question that's being asked by many, as a result of the growing popularity of this experimental physics VR adventure.

Don't be confused by the title; it isn't a game about how osteoblasts work. Having made its mark on the Oculus Rift, as well as being available on Steam, it's reasonable for people to be asking whether it is available on the most popular VR headset on the market. It's not the only game Oculus Quest owners are asking for. Players are looking to see if Phasmophobia is on Oculus, or if Roblox is on Oculus Quest, too.

But rather than be a bonehead, you've come to the right place to get answers to all your Boneworks-Oculus Quest 2-related questions. Here is what we know about is Boneworks on the Oculus Quest 2 and beyond.

Is Boneworks On Oculus Quest 2?

At the time of writing, Boneworks is not available on the Oculus Quest 2 game store. Even though the game is available to play on the Oculus Rift, and on PC via Steam, it has yet to make the transition onto the Quest 2 platform.

While that may be disappointing, there is some light at the end of this particular dark tunnel. In an interview with Oculus, the game Director Brandon Laatsch confirmed that:

We’re working on bringing Boneworks’ mechanics and core systems to Oculus Quest in an all-new project that we will have more to show from as the year goes on.

However, rather than being Boneworks, this is instead the new game called Bonelab. It is available to download on the Oculus Quest 2 and via Steam.

Even if Boneworks isn't available directly through the Oculus Quest 2, is it possible to play it through your PC, using a Link cable? Happily, the answer to this question is yes. By using an Oculus Link cable, you are able to access Rift titles on your Quest 2 headset.

While you lose out on the freedom of being completely untethered, the fact that you can access content that was previously unavailable should provide a small crumb of comfort. To connect your Quest 2 to your PC, Oculus suggests the following steps:

  • Open the Oculus app on your PC.
  • Turn on your Quest 2 or Quest.
  • Plug your USB 3 cable into a USB 3.0 port on your PC, then plug the other end into your headset.
  • A message is displayed in VR prompting you to Allow access to data. Select Deny. If you mistakenly "Allow" the prompt, you must unplug your USB cable from the Quest and plug it back in.
  • When prompted to Enable Oculus Link, select Enable to begin remote rendering using Oculus Link.

Once this is done, you'll be able to play Boneworks on your Quest 2 headset.

Boneworks Oculus Quest 2 Release Date

At the moment, there doesn't appear to be a plan to bring Boneworks directly to Quest 2. The game developer, Stress Level Zero, has released Bonelab - which has Boneworks’ mechanics and core systems - on Oculus Quest 2.

Of course, this doesn't mean Boneworks will never launch on the Oculus Quest 2. It might come later down the line, but at this point, nothing is confirmed.
