Will Battlefield 2042 be on EA Play at Launch?

According to EA.com, subscribers to EA Play will not get Battlefield 2042 at launch, unless they preorder the game. In other words, it isn't going to be a freebie for subscribers. But there are a few additional benefits that EA Play members can enjoy.

As a EA Play member, as well as getting access to The Play List, subscribers get early access to the Open Beta, and a ten hour trial of the game. This trial will be available from October 15th, a week before the official release date of the game. Members can also benefit from 10% off pre-orders, and exclusive member only rewards.

But, if you happen to be a subscriber to EA play Pro? Now that's a slightly different story...

What about EA Play Pro?

Subscribers to EA Play Pro will be happier than a man who has just found an extra-large blackberry on his pudding. People who subscribe to this service can enjoy full access to Battlefield 2042, a week early, on October 15th.

As well as this, these players will also get early access to the Open Beta, rewards like points packs, exclusive content, and, most importantly, the Ultimate Edition of the game. That's right. No Standard or Gold Editions for you guys. Oh no.

The Ultimate Edtiion includes a host of extra content for eager beavers, including:

  • Official Digital art book
  • Exclusive Digital Soundtrack
  • Year 1 Pass including:
    • 4 new Specialists
    • 4 Battle Passes
    • 1 Legendary skin bundle (Midnight Ultimate Bundle) containing:
      • “Shadow Stalker” Legendary Outfit
      • “Obsidian” Legendary Weapon Skin
      • “Onyx” Legendary Vehicle Skin
    • 3 exclusive Epic skin bundles (Blistered Earth, Tempest and Cold Blood) each containing:
      • Outfit x 1
      • Weapon skin x 1
      • Vehicle skin x 1
  • Cross-gen bundle

This is in addition to the benefits that other, non-ultimate edition users get - the melee knife, the Mr Chompy Weapon Charm, and a player card background and tag. Given the Ultimate Edition is around £109.99 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, an EA Play Pro subscription looks pretty decent value, to get your hands on this game.
