How to use Google Stadia controller as a Bluetooth controller for other PC games

Google Stadia is turning out to be a pretty decent platform in and of itself.

However, that doesn't mean that you just want to play games using Stadia itself. Sometimes you want to play stuff not on the platform, but maybe you've grown to really like the controller.

If you want to connect the controller wirelessly to your PC then you can do so by following the instructions on the website, but Google has limited it so that you can't use it with anything other than Stadia.

This means that you'll need to use a USB cable if you want to play other games on other services using your Stadia controller.

How to use the Stadia controller for other PC games

As most people use Steam, we'll explain that one. It's important to note that your PC should just recognise the Stadia controller once you hook it up using a USB cable. How well a service will integrate will vary, but it's not all that complicated.

With Steam, you'll need to have the controller connected and open up Steam before going to the Settings, Controller, and General Controller Settings.

Here you'll be able to map the buttons to the controller and live your best and most Stadia-y life. Truly, this is a modern marvel, but it's a shame that Google isn't keen on sharing a bit more.
