How to fix PUBG Mobile Error Code 1 on iOS and Android

PUBG Mobile is one of the many online battle royale games available. But as with so many online games, it is not without its issues that need fixing. So where better to start, than with the imaginatively title Error Code 1? While this may or not be the first error that you, the player, have experienced, it has been given this numeric designation by the game developer. Let's take a look at what at is, and any possible ways you can go about fixing it, whether you are trying to play on an Android device, or on iOS.

What is Error Code 1?

Error Code 1 appears to rear its head when there is a problem downloading maps for the game. A player may attempt to download a map, but will find that they are unable to open the map or play in it. There are a couple of possible solutions to try and overcome this, depending on what platform you are on.

How to Fix PUBG Mobile Error Code 1 on Android

Android has a slightly wider range of solutions to try in comparison to iOS. One solution to try is as follows:

  • Go into Programs and open your download folder
  • Select the maps you have attempted to install and hit copy
  • Go back to your app drawer and open the android folder
  • Go into your data folder and look for a folder called com.tencent.ig
  • From here, choose files > ue4game > shadowtrackerextra> shadowtracker extra > saved > paks
  • Paste your maps into this subfolder
  • Relaunch the game, and see if the maps have appeared

There are a few additional options you can try:

  • A relatively simple one is to clear the game cache in your app settings menu, then restart the Android device, and relaunch the game.
  • Some players have reported that the error has been resolved by downloading and running a VPN, and downloading the maps from another server.
  • And finally, it has been reported that putting the phone in safe mode and download the maps, has worked for some people.

How to Fix PUBG Mobile Error Code 1 on iOS

iOS has fewer options for remedying this error. It's always worth making sure that your software is fully up to date, so check for any outstanding downloads, and apply them if you need to.

If it allows, you can go into your settings menu, and see if you can clear the cache on the game. If this is unsuccessful, then the best option to try is downloading and running a VPN, and trying to download the maps from a different, non-local server. This seems to be an effective remedy for both Android and iOS.

One final option

Of course, if the above options haven't worked, it may be worth considering uninstalling and reinstalling the game. This will ensure you have the most up-to-date version of the game, and will replace any files that might have become corrupted.
