Far Cry 6 Co-Op Error: How To Fix Far Cry 6 Co-Op Not Working

Far Cry 6 has had its fair share of errors since it launched. One example is the Far Cry 6 co-op error. But what exactly is this error, and what causes it? More importantly, how can you fix it? We'll give you all the information you need, to get co-op mode back up and running.

How To Fix Far Cry 6 Co-Op Not Working

As with many of the errors that have been identified so far on the game, Ubisoft have recommended one potentially simple fix to resolve the Far Cry 6 co-op error. Their advice? Simply restart the game. Hopefully, for most players, this will be sufficient. But just in case it doesn't fix things for you, there are some other, more general troubleshooting steps to consider trying:

  • Check the server status for the game. If you’re on PlayStation go here, or here if you’re on Xbox. If there is an issue with the server, wait until it has been resolved before trying again.
  • You could also try using a VPN to connect with a server in a differrent location. Or, if you are currently using a VPN, switch it off. A more local server may work more effecetively.
  • Make sure your network is working properly. Test it with another app or device. Make sure you don't ahve multiple devices and apps competing for bandwidth.
  • Consider switching to a wired connection if you are on Wi-Fi, for a more stable connection.
  • Restar your router.

If none of these steps works, then it’s time to reach out to Ubisoft for additional support. Find them on their website, or connect on Twitter @UbisoftSupport. But what do we know about why the Far Cry 6 co-op error is happening?

What Causes the Co-Op Error?

According to Ubisoft:

This issue occurs when there has been a problem connecting to a co-op session.

They say little else to shed light on it. But, we can speculate a little. As with so many of the errors that Ubisoft suggests fixing by restarting your console, it relates to an online element of the game. This strongly hints at a problem with the game servers. Restarting the game will refresh your connection to the servers, so there's a good chance this is the underlying cause. With it being a new release, the servers are likely to be experiencing particularly high traffic, and may be struggling to cope.

Hopefully, a simple restart will b eneough to resolve the Far Cry 6 co-op error for you, and you can enjoy playing through all those missions alongside somebody.
