Playing Elden Ring on VR offers the potential to really get up close and personal with all the horrors that the game has to offer. If you can handle the motion sickness, that is.

Of course, playing From Software’s masterpiece in VR may not be for everyone, but is it available for those that fancy it? Can such dreams be made manifest?

We'll let you know exactly what's going on with Elden Ring VR. And we have encouraging news for you...

Is Elden Ring VR available?

Officially, there is no VR version of Elden Ring for players to download and play. Given the enormous work that went into making the game, it is perhaps no surprise that a separate VR version wasn't created at the same time.

But that isn't where this story ends, stomped on like an enfeebled Tarnished at the mercy of a monster. Because thanks to the valiant efforts of the modding community (well, one modder in particular) there is a way to experiencing Elden Ring in VR.

The person you all need to thank is Luke Ross, one of the best-known names in the modding community. Ross has previously been credited with creating VR mods for several other non-VR titles, including GTA V, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and Cyberpunk 2077.

And if that roll-call wasn't enough, Ross has turned their attention to Elden Ring, showing off a VR mod on YouTube. You can watch that video below:

It's important to emphasise that this is but the (highly impressive) work of one individual, and at the time of writing, this is a mod that remains very much a work in progress. Albeit a very good one.

What this means is that the game supports controller play, rather than allowing you to move your arms to swing a sword, for example. It also offers players the option to slow down time, switch between first and third-person views, and even activate Tourism mode, to make all the horrible monsters leave you alone to just enjoy the scenery.

If this is intriguing you, then you may well be asking how you might be able to get your hands on such a thing as the Elden Ring VR mod. Because that's what we're going to discuss next, and if you hadn't we'd have had to come up with some other content which wouldn't have been as interesting.

How to play Elden Ring VR

If the propsect of playing Elden Ring VR gets you more excited than a politician being handed an brown envelope with [contents unknown] then how exactly can you go about it?

Well, you'll need to go to Luke's Patreon page and sign up to be a supporter. Doing this will allow you to download and play the Elden Ring Vr mod, as well as any other mods that Luke is working on.

Luke also promises to provide support for installation, usage, and troubleshooting. And let's be honest, a lot of work has gone into this, so it's probably reasonable that the creator is asking for people to support them. Given this mod is still a work in progress, it will likely also allow for more tme to be spent improving and refining the experience.

There you have it. An Elden Ring VR mod does exist, and currently stands as the only way that you can experience the game in virtual reality. It's up to you to decide whetehr or not it's an experience you need to have.
