We'll let you know what is going on with this unusual error. We'll explain what we know about the causes, and most importantly, what you can do to mitigate the risk of falling into this trap. A trap that is arguably worse than anything Elden Ring can actually throw at you. And that's quite a lot.

How To Save Your Progress On Elden Ring

At the time of writing, the developers are working on a patch to correct the problem. So keep an eye out for any game updates, and make sure you install them as soon as you can. But in the meantime, the recommended fix to ensure you aren't losing your progress is as follows.

You will need to save the game manually. This means exiting the game on a regular basis. While this may be a little frustrating, and will certainly break up the flow of the game, it is probably going to be a preferable alternative to losing your data.

In order to do this successfully, use your Option button to open the system menu. From here, select the Quit Game option. Next, press Home to return to the PS5 home screen, and quit the game application once, in order to save the data correctly.

What Is The Elden Ring PS5 Save Error?

The save error seems to happen most often if the PS5 is turned off unexpectedly while playing the game, or while in Rest Mode. So for many players, this may not be an issue. However, the developers have stated that the are "aware" of the cause of the issue, and are working hard on a patch.

Hopefully this means that in the near future, the save error will no longer be a problem. In the meantime, the solution we've outlined above will be your best, and potentially only, way of ensuring that you don't lose any of your hard-won progress in Elden Ring. It's an unforgiving game at the best of times. So to have to replay the same bits that you battled past previously, is far from ideal.
