With Cyberpunk 2077 releasing in just a few days, people are keen to find out whether they should get it on their current console or hold out for a new one. Well, those of us who haven't secured a PS5 or Xbox Series X yet.

For those of us without new tech in our houses, it's an important thing to consider.

There are a few key areas in which the game is likely to differ between versions, and knowing that ahead of time should help you make that decision.

BUY NOW: Cyberpunk 2077 PS4 Version

So, here's what you need to know about the two versions of Cyberpunk 2077.

What will the differences be between the PS5 and PS4 version of Cyberpunk 2077?

The biggest difference is going to be in performance.

While the PS4 version will still look amazing, the PS5 version of Cyberpunk 2077 will make use of the next-gen console's superior hardware to deliver a gameplay experience with faster loading times, improved frame rates and various other visual upgrades.

You can check out some official PlayStation gameplay comparing how the game will run at launch on each console here:

However, for those eagle-eyed viewers, you may have noticed the PS5 version was running via Backwards Compatibility. The full PlayStation 5 version of Cyberpunk 2077 will not actually be available when the game releases in December, but will instead come at a later date in 2021.

Which version should you get?

If you plan on buying Cyberpunk 2077 at launch, then you've not really got a choice over which version to buy, given Cyberpunk will launch solely as a PlayStation 4/Xbox One/PC game at release (playable via Backwards Compatibility).

Even if you have a PlayStation 5, you'll likely have to buy this version to play CD PROJEKT RED's new game, but don't worry! When the upgraded PS5 version does release in 2021, those with a PS4 copy will gain access to the PS5 upgrade for free.

This lack of a full next-gen version at launch, while frustrating, is not surprising. Given Cyberpunk's tumultuous, drawn-out development process that began near the start of the previous console generation, the priority is just getting the game ready for release without another delay.

If you're wondering where you should buy Cyberpunk 2077 from, Amazon is currently offering a copy of the game and three exclusive Night City postcards for £49.99. If you order via Amazon Prime, you'll also be able to secure the game for its release on December 10. You can click here to check it out.
