Cyberpunk 2077 Day One Patch Notes: Changes, bug fixes, file size, release time and more news

Cyberpunk 2077 is finally launching into the world, but as with most big games these days, players will have to download a hefty Day One Patch if they want to get the optimal experience.

Even though we all know to expect it, there's still a frustration that comes with sitting there and waiting for a day-one update to download, especially when you may have already pre-installed the game and pre-ordered it well in advance.

Cyberpunk 2077 Day One Patch file size

Our chums over at GfinityEsports.com have spotted that the Day One Patch for Cyberpunk 2077 appears to be a massive 43.5 GB.

That particular number was posted on Twitter by a chap named Dreamcast Guy, who shared the legit-looking screenshot below.

Considering that the full game is believed to be over 100 GB as a base install, the hugeness of this update might come as a surprise to some.

However, hardened players of games like Call Of Duty have very much grown accustomed to this sort of huge download by now.

Cyberpunk 2077 Day One Patch notes, bug fixes and changes for PC and console

When reviewers started reporting bugs in the game, the developer CD Projekt Red took to Twitter to attempt some damage control.

"It is a different game with the console update", wrote CD Projekt Red's Fabian Mario Döhla in one Tweet, making it sound like a fair amount of these issues will be ironed out when the launch and the patch go live on 10th December.

In another Tweet, he added, "It’s mainly streaming issues - when the settings are too high for your setup the game is unable to stream the content and stuff starts to go missing (animations, audio, lipsync, objects). Adjust settings and it works waaaay smoother."

Until we see the full patch notes for PC and console (and Stadia), these Tweets will have to be enough to reassure us that the game will be in good place post-patch.

Cyberpunk 2077 Day One Patch release time

The release map above gives a fairly thorough overview of the dates/times on which Cyberpunk 2077 will unlock for PC and Stadia players.

For PS4, Xbox One, PS5 and Xbox Series X console players, the game should unlock at midnight on the 10th December in your local time zone.

You can expect the day one patch to start downloading as soon as you try to open the game. At least, that's how these things normally work!
