Anthem Update: First look at the new UI, which looks like Destiny for kids

Anthem, a game which came out last year, was a bit embarrassed about everything, and has since been undergoing a lot of self-reflection and presumably, some push-ups, has finally shown off a new look.

It's been a fair while since we've heard anything from Bioware about their take on the Games As A Service.

In fact, we'd kind of forgotten about the game, despite it having some high moments in amidst it's rather mixed everything else.

Well, they're back, and they're showing off a new look.

Destiny but make it colourful

The update comes via a new post on the Bioware site. The screenshots are actually quite nice, and they show off a very different look to the game.

For starters, the menu looks a lot easier to understand and navigate now. This is, in part, due to the Destinification of the look. That's a word now.

Basically, it looks like a game most people have played, except it's using a lot of bright colours to indicate things and it looks a bit more playful than Destiny. It's quite nice, as it stands.

We can make them faster, stronger, better

Perhaps the most exciting thing in this update is that they're changing the abilities up and giving the game a far more RPG-focussed progression.

Rather than having abilities drop randomly from enemies, you'll now be able to unlock them as you level up.

This is a big change to how the game is going to feel and will allow people to play around with more builds and better customise their Javelin to their own playstyle.

We think these changes could push the game back into the forefront of our minds, and we're really excited to see what happens over the next few months.
