Age of Empire is one of the most well-renowned strategy series around. It's a staple of any RTS player's diet, and it's also the reason you may here "Wololo" as people play as a priest in any game ever.
It's one of the reasons that so many people were happy to see the remasters bringing the games a bit more up to date, especially as they were quite good.
Well, Age of Empires 4 is still in the works, and we've had an update on it.
So, here's what you need to know.
Age of Empire 4 is still coming, don't worry
The update comes via a post on the official site which reads "We are making great progress on Age of Empires IV. I don’t want to make you jealous, but we are literally playing this game every single day—both in Washington and in Vancouver."
Is it mean for the developers to brag like this? Yes. Is it also probably not as fun as it sounds? Also yes.
You know how frustrating it can be to find bugs in a game? Well, imagine how much more annoying that would be if you then had to go and fix them afterwards.
"RTS development is funny: it takes a while to build the separate systems (AI, economy, sim, rendering, etc), and then it takes a while for them to come together. But when they do, you suddenly have a game—a game that needs debugging and balance and polish— but the core of the game that you know you’re going to ship."
Age of Empires 4 release date, price, and everything else you need to know
Unfortunately, there's no word on when any of this is going to actually release or any other hard information, but it sounds as though things are at the polishing phase,.
That means that we can expect to see the game this year, and potentially before June, but there are no guarantees.
We'd expect the price to be similar to previous entries too, but we'll have to wait for an official announcement. As soon as we know more we'll let you know though. Promise.
