The Suicide Squad has a four-minute-long Harley stunt that's Gunn's biggest set piece yet

James Gunn's superhero movies have all had fantastic action set pieces. The director’s last film, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, opened with a fantastic musical fight scene. However, Gunn's upcoming The Suicide Squad could feature his greatest action scene yet.

Revealed in an interview with Associated Press, Gunn revealed that The Suicide Squad features his best set piece. Designed around the fantastic stunt abilities of Harley Quinn actress Margot Robbie, the scene will surely impress fans of the character.

The Suicide Squad has an awesome Harley action scene

Gunn describes the upcoming movie’s action scene as “the most fun" he's ever had on set. Of course, the director also heavily praised the acting ability of Margot Robbie.

“She’s able to do the comedy. She’s able to do the drama. And physically, she is a pure athlete and is able to do these stunts in such a graceful, magnificent, beautiful way," Gunn told AP. “So I wrote the biggest action scene I’ve ever done all around Harley, and it was so fun to create just on every level from working with the stunt guys all the way through to working with her."

Gunn continued to praise Robbie as a flawless performer. In fact, during filming, the director thought the actress could do anything he could ever task her with. On top of that, he also describes her as the perfect Harley Quinn.

“It’s probably my favorite four minutes of film I’ve ever shot before," Gunn gushed. "[Margot Robbie] can do anything. Or I thought she could do anything. And then one day she had to sing and I said, ‘OK, well you can do everything but one thing.’ But she’s such a great actress. She embodies the character."

Some characters will die and fans aren't happy

James Gunn has explained that most characters in The Suicide Squad won't make it out alive. Unsurprisingly, the movie is about a suicide mission, and Gunn appears to be following that premise through. In response, fans have sent the filmmaker a wave of death threats as they beg for their favourite characters to live.

Gunn explained on Twitter that every actor in The Suicide Squad was already aware of their character’s fate when they signed on.

“Anyone who was getting killed in The Suicide Squad knew it upon getting the script or for new actors upon being offered the role,” Gunn said.
