Bautista met with Warner Bros to claim Bane DCEU role

Dave Bautista has no qualms with asking for he wants. The WWE superstar turned Hollywood actor is anything but quiet about his wish to play iconic characters such as Marcus Fenix. However, the actor's eyes are pinned at another character: Bane.

Last portrayed on screen by Tom Hardy in The Dark Knight Rises, Bane is a force to be reckoned with in the DC universe. As such, Bautista is looking to portray the mighty Bane whenever he pops up on the DCEU.

Did Bautista ask Warner Bros to play Bane?

In an interview for Justice Con, Bautista was asked which DC character he would like to play in the DCEU. In response, he revealed that he's already met with Warner Bros to discuss the character of Bane.

“It would be Bane, all day. It is no secret," he told fans. "I really want to play Bane. I want to play Bane so much that I went to Warner Bros., had a meeting with them, had a meeting with DC, walked through the door and said, 'I want to play Bane. I'm not kidding. They said, 'Wow, wow. We're not even looking for anyone for Bane.'"

Just last week, Bautista was upset at the state of fan castings for the actor. Following the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the actor was being fan-casted as an alien Green Lantern.

“Ok, I know I’m not the best-looking guy in the world, but how come whenever I’m fancast as a character it’s always one that’s ummmm.... aesthetically challenged?!” The actor said. “This is probably why I can’t get that rom-com lead!”

Bane in the DCEU

We've yet to see any interpretation of Bane in the DCEU, but the fan-favourite character is due for a redemption. While many enjoyed Tom Hardy's portrayal in the Nolan Trilogy, it was a far cry from the actual comic book character.

Warner Bros is planning for a full trilogy of Robert Pattinson Batman movies led by Matt Reeves. On the other hand, HBO Max is reportedly looking into a Ben Affleck Batman TV series. Thirdly, there's an alleged Batman Beyond movie in the works.

While we're yet to see Bane done right on the big screen, there's a lot of opportunities for the character to appear. Whether or not Bautista will play that character is a decision Warner Bros will have to make. Following the actor's success as Marvel's Drax the Destroyer, it would be great to see him in DC.
