Salma Hayek was terrified of wearing her Eternals costume

In superhero cinema, costumes are king. From Batman to Nebula, every character's costume design is a integral part of their character. However, superhero costumes can often be rather uncomfortable for actors, Eternals actress Salma Hayek was terrified of suiting up.

Salma Hayek was terrified by Ajak costume

In an inevitable with Variety, via ScreenRant, Hayek explained that she was terrified of getting in the costume. Much like other superhero characters, Eternals' Ajak has a rather tight-fitting costume and a pointy headpiece.

With this in mind, Salma Hayek explained that she was scared of being uncomfortable and claustrophobic while filming scenes. Of course, being claustrophobic during filming would be horrible for the actress.

I am claustrophobic. I was terrified of the costume. I was terrified. Because if I cannot move and it’s kind of thick… I was like, ‘Oh my God, I’m not going to be able to breathe. It’s going to drive me crazy.’ And I went to put it on, I found myself profoundly moved. It was a very strange experience because I didn’t expect it. I forgot about how does it fit? Am I going to get a claustrophobic attack? All I could see was, ‘Oh my God, here’s a Mexican female in this outfit and this is really happening. And yes, we get to be superheroes.’"

Thankfully, Hayek appears to have been comfortable in her superhero costume during filming. As the actress will likely have to suit up multiple times over the next decade, it's good that the costume is already well made.
