Qui-Gon Jinn actor Liam Neeson hasn't been cast for Obi-Wan show

There were few redeeming moments when it comes to Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace.  While fans have become more enamoured with the film over the past two decades, it wasn’t well received back in 1999. However, even back then, fans were enticed by Liam Neeson's character Qui-Gon Jinn.

The character of Qui-Gon Jinn has since turned back up in animated spin-off shows set in the prequel era. Neeson returned to the role for The Clone Wars and Rebels. Of course, the actor also recorded a voice line for the finale of The Rise of Skywalker. Unfortunately, the actor hasn't yet been able to play the actor again in live-action. Furthermore, it seems unlikely that the actor will return anytime soon.

Qui-Gon Jinn won't appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi

In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Liam Neeson revealed that he has not been approached to return to Star Wars. While the actor is aware that Ewan McGregor is returning, he isn't confident that he'll starring in it.

When asked about the possibility of Qui-Gon returning, the actor told Kimmel:

“I heard Ewan McGregor was going to do a series! No, I don’t think so. No, I haven’t been approached."

Is there any hope?

Obi-Wan Kenobi is currently filming on Disney's Hollywood stages. Taking over immediately from The Book of Boba Fett, the Disney Plus series has started full production. Obi-Wan Kenobi will likely be in the filming stage for the next few months.

Despite how far into production the Obi-Wan Kenobi show is, there's still a possibility that Qui-Gon Jinn could turn up. However, this would have to be a very large addition to the show. Consequentially, this would likely not be planned for the initial version of the TV show.

Nevertheless, if Disney wanted, Qui-Gon Jinn could turn up in Obi-Wan Kenobi. It just feels very unlikely after Neeson's recent interview.
