A leaked preview of the incoming toy line for Marvel’s What If...? series seems to suggest that Iron Man could return.

What If…? Is Disney’s upcoming animated reboot of the popular book series which explores alternative MCU realities. Anything goes in the world of What If…? In the past the series has included a female Peter Parker, an English Captain America and What if the Fantastic Four Had Different Super-Powers?

The animated take on the comic series will air this summer and feature a zombie Captain America, Black Panther’s T’challa as Star Lord and an episode where Peter Rodgers is Iron Man.

Iron Man could reportedly feature elsewhere in the show if a recent Lego leak is anything to go by.

Lego What If…? Iron Man

The leaked Lego toy set shows Iron Man in a Sakaarian suit alongside the Watcher and Valkyrie. If the leak is true, it looks like Iron Man will take the place of Thor on the trash planet of Sakaar.

In Thor: Ragnarok, Thor was forced to fight Hulk at the Contest of Champions on the planet Sakaar. This Lego leak suggests we are about to see what Iron Man took Thor’s place in the fight.

All other major Marvel stars set to appear in What If…? will be voice their live action counterparts. This could be Robert Downey Jr’s last appearance as Iron Man following Avengers: Endgame.

Jeff Goldlbum confirms Downey JR. appearance

Curiously, a 2019 Buzzfeed interview with Jeff Goldblum seems to confirm Robert Downey Jr’s appearance in the What If…? episode.

Speaking with the interviewer, Goldblum said: “I went to the Disney studios and I recorded the Grandmaster's voice for an episode of a show.”

“This episode included the Grandmaster and Iron Man, so Robert Downey will do a voice for that," Goldblum added.

The episode of a show refers to What If…? Which is rumoured to air this August exclusively in Disney+
