Hayden Christensen “feels good" about returning as Darth Vader in Kenobi

Disney has ordered quite a large platter of Star Wars content for the next few years. All streaming on Disney+, these new shows will expand the universe in ways new movie trilogies wouldn't have time for. However, one series in particular sees the return of two beloved Star Wars characters. The upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi show will not only see Ewan McGregor return in the title role, but also Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker.

Expected to be released on Disney+ next year, the Obi-Wan Kenobi show will finally reunite the two actors on screen. It’s been over 15 years since the two actors have shared the screen, but this show promises a glorious encounter.

Hayden Christensen on returning as Darth Vader

Last time we saw Hayden Christensen in a Star Wars movie, he had abandoned his life as Anakin Skywalker. Now the imposing Darth Vader, the younglings-slayer became the right-hand man of Emperor Palpatine.

"Of course, Anakin and Obi-Wan weren't on the greatest of terms when we last saw them,” Christensen told Star Wars. "It was such an incredible journey playing Anakin Skywalker!”

Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, ten years after Anakin was defeated at Mustafar. Described as “the rematch of the century", there will at least be one encounter between the two iconic Star Wars characters.

"It will be interesting to see what an amazing director like Deborah Chow has in store for us all," Christensen says. "I'm excited to work with Ewan again. It feels good to be back."

What other Star Wars shows are coming?

Disney has announced a large number of Star Wars shows for Disney+. On top of Kenobi, there's Ahsoka, Lando and Andor shows in the works. As well as a season three of The Mandalorian, the Book of Boba Fett will continue the story of the series' favourite bounty hunter.

The shows don't stop coming. There's a Rangers of the New Republic show, The Bad Batch and The Acolyte. That final show will focus on the final days of Star Wars' most interesting periods: The Old Republic.

If you love Star Wars, you'll have more than enough content to keep you satiated. For those craving even more, Disney is also planning on releasing more movies in the franchise.
