Hayden Christensen will be digitally de-aged in Obi-Wan Kenobi for some reason

Out of every Disney Plus TV show, the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi show is by far the most hyped by fans. The soon-to-be-released show will feature a wide cast of returning characters, including Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader.

However, as the show nears release, fans are still wondering what the story will even be about. With Disney refusing to release a single trailer, even as we reach two months until launch, the narrative is still mysterious.

How does Hayden Christensen fit into Obi-Wan?

Hayden Christensen will be reprising his role as Darth Vader in the upcoming in the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series. However, via MakingStarWars, the actor will allegedly be digitally altered to play a younger incarnation of the character.

Initially, this seems like a weird occurrence. As Obi-Wan actor Ewan McGregor isn't being de-aged for his performance, why would Christensen have to be altered? Well, it would make sense to believe that the actor will not be playing the character in the show’s present.

Instead, it's much easier to assume that the upcoming TV show will feature numerous flashbacks. This would allow the writers to further flesh out the relationship between Obi-Wan and Anakin before the events of Revenge of the Sith.

This is really the only reason for de-aging the actor. As the face of Darth Vader, Hayden Christensen would be under heavy makeup as well as heavily scarred. Essentially, there's no reason to digitally de-age an actor that's already covered in heavy prosthetics.

Do we need more flashbacks?

If Obi-Wan does actually include a large number of flashback scenes, fans will be treated to a new look at the relationship between the Jedi and his Padawan. But do we need to more of this relationship on screen?

While we did get a decent amount of time with the two in the prequel movies, the series’ massive time skips left a lot to be desired. However, the relationship was further established in the Clone Wars TV show.

Nevertheless, getting to see the two live-action incarnations of the characters on screen again will certainly excite fans. With love for the prequels now at its peak, bringing McGregor and Christensen together again will be a huge celebration for the series.
