Gwen Stacy actress Emma Stone isn't coming back for No Way Home

The constant rumours surrounding Spider-Man No Way Home have suggested a Smash Bros Everyone is Here moment.  However, as more and more actors begin denying their involvement in the project, it would appear the movie will be smaller in scale. As the newest reveal in a long series of denials, Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy will not be returning.

Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy isn't in No Way Home

In an interview with MTV, Emma Stone explained that she’s in no way involved with the upcoming Spider-Man movie. While the actress is aware of the swirling rumours, she quickly explained that she's not in the film.

“I have heard those rumors. I don't know if I'm supposed to say anything, but I'm not [in the new Spider-Man]."

It was reported last year that Emma Stone would be returning to the role of Gwen Stacy alongside Andrew Garfield. While the actress' character was killed off in Amazing Spider-Man 2, so was Jamie Foxx’s Electro who appears to be returning.

Andrew Garfield has denied his return as Amazing Spider-Man’s Peter Parker.

Emma Stone is very protective of her Spider-Man

Alongside the No Way Home news, the interview discuses Stone's relationship with the Amazing Spider-Man films. In the interview, Stone explains that she's become very protective of the series despite its critical reception.

“I had wonderful experiences making them, even though they were challenging. But I loved working with Marc, and I loved working with the whole team. It was really a special experience for me. I feel similarly protective, I feel protective of that version of Spider-Man. There've been some wonderful Spider-Men throughout history."

Spider-Man No Way Home releases on December 17th, 2021.
