Elizabeth Olsen knew nothing about Doctor Strange 2 until weeks before filming

Following WandaVision, Elizabeth Olsen will be returning as Scarlet Witch for Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. Wanda and Strange were supposed to interact in WandaVision, but that interaction has been saved for the sequel.

With Wanda Maximoff fully becoming the Scarlet Witch by the end of her series, Doctor Strange has a powerful threat to deal with. The details on the two character’s interactions are currently quite vague, to the point where Elizabeth Olsen has only recently learned about them.

Elizabeth Olsen knew nothing about Doctor Strange 2

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Olsen explained she was told Doctor Strange 2’s story shortly before filming. While the movie has been in development for a long time, Marvel kept Olsen in the dark.

"I really wish that there was a plan that someone shared with me a little sooner," Olsen told them. "We found out about Doctor Strange 2 and what the story was before we went for the last eight weeks of filming WandaVision during the pandemic. I found out in, like, August, and then I wrapped WandaVision on a Wednesday and went to England Friday."

Olsen explained that moving directly from WandaVision to Doctor Strange 2 was a lot of work. With Marvel's quick turnaround on projects, the actress was almost immediately sent to England.

"It was a lot," the actress said. "And then I just got home, like, 10 days ago. So it was a long time being in England. It was a long process."

What will Wanda do in Doctor Strange 2?

Wanda Maximoff is said to be the villain of Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. Again, details on the film are vague, but we do have some ideas. After the end of WandaVision, we do know that Wanda will be delving into the multiverse to rescue her sons Tommy and Billy.

We don't know how much screen time Elizabeth Olsen will have in Doctor Strange 2. However, with the actress being described as the main villain of the movie, she'll likely have a good chunk of screen time.
