Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is only a couple of months away, but Marvel is still holding its cards closer to its chest. Despite having two trailers, the nature of the movie's plot is still kept vague.
With this in mind, we still hand no idea who the main villain of Doctor Strange 2 actually is. In recent media, signs have pointed to either Baron Mordo, Wanda Maximoff or Evil Strange as the main villains. However, it turns out the villain might be someone completely different.
Is Chthon in Doctor Strange 2?
Pointed out by Twitter user ThoshallKArts, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has hidden its main villain in pain sight. While the villain isn't included in any of the trailers, one of the movie’s posters hides them in a corner.
The newest poster for the movie surrounds Strange with Multiverse shards, teasing some worlds that we’ll be visiting. In one of the shards, eagle-eyed viewers can see Chthon, the Elder God and Archdemon of Chaos doing a big scream.
In a tweet, ThoshallKArts showed a comparison between the poster shard and Chthon’s comic appearance. While not confirmed, the likeness is almost identical between the two versions. This means that Chthon is likely in the movie in some degree.
However, considering the purpose and motivations of the character in the comic books, this is likely our main villain. But what evidence is there to support that? Actually, there's quite a lot of evidence already in the MCU.

Why Chthon will be the main villain
In the comic books, Chthon is the writer and Elder God of the Darkhold. The Darkhold is a powerful magical book. Also known as The Book of Sins, the book is made of dark matter from Hell that contains infinite knowledgeable.
In WandaVision, Wanda Maximoff takes the Darkhold from Agatha Harkness. After acquiring the book, the Scarlet Witch opens and studies the book to find her dead children across the Multiverse. However, in doing so, the Scarlet Witch might have attracted Chthon.
Even if the villain isn't a main part of Multiverse of Madness, the Doctor Strange sequel will definitely feature the character. Chthon is integral to Wanda Maximoff’s journey, so it would be a shame if the character was only a cameo.
