Carrie Fisher finally gets her Hollywood Walk of Fame Star alongside Ewan McGregor

Most known for her role as Princess Leia in Star Wars, Carrie Fisher was a tremendous force in Hollywood before her passing. Not just an actress,  Fisher was an important Hollywood script doctor and producer who went largely uncredited.

Five years after the actress' passing, The Hollywood Walk of Fame has announced that Carrie Fisher will receive her own star. Fisher will be the 16th actor to receive a posthumous star on the Walk of Fame since the landmark finished construction in 1960.

Why Carrie Fisher is getting a Hollywood Star

As part of the official Class of 2022, Carrie Fisher is receiving a Walk of Fame star for her work “in the category of motion pictures". The actress is included in a list of 13 other actors including Macaulay Culkin, Willem Dafoe and Francis Ford Coppola.

Fisher isn't the only Star Wars actor to be receiving a Walk of Fame Star this year. In fact, Obi-Wan Kenobi actor Ewan McGregor will also be receiving a star in the upcoming additions. The actress will be joining Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Alec Guinness and Billy Dee Williams on the Walk of Fame.

At the time of writing, Fisher is one of two main characters from the original Star Wars trilogy to not have a star installed. The only other main actor from the trilogy is the voice of Darth Vader: James Earl Jones.

The ceremony date for the Carrie Fisher star has yet to be set. Official guidelines for the Walk of Fame gives the recipients “two years to schedule" the ceremony before they expire. Obviously, as Fisher is sadly no longer with us, it’s up to Fisher's family to schedule the ceremony.
