Jedi Fallen Order's Cal Kestis to make live-action debut in Tales of the Jedi

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was a great return to form for Star Wars games after years of disappointment. Set in the current Star Wars canon, the video game followed surviving Jedi Cal Kestis after the events of Order 66. The story saw the Jedi attempt to restore the Jedi Order by finding a holocron of force-sensitive children.

Played by Cameron Monaghan, the digital representation of Kestis looks identical to his actor. With this in mind, fans have long-wondered when the character will appear in live-action Star Wars media. As it turns out, that very scenario might be arriving soon.

Is Cal Kestis in Tales of the Jedi?

Reported by Making Star Wars, the upcoming Star Wars Celebration will feature a number of surprises for fans. Of course, one of those surprises is rumoured to feature Fallen Order’s Cal Kestis in some capacity.

According to the report, Kestis’ appearance will be part of a mysterious Lucasfilm project called Tales of the Jedi. Making Star Wars notes that nothing concrete is known about the long-rumoured project. However, multiple beloved characters are expected to return.

Loosely based on the comic book series Legends Old Republic: Tales of the Jedi, the series is expected to be an anthology. If it follows the comic format, each episode will follow a new Jedi in a mini storyline.

Making Star Wars notes that the series has been rumoured to be a live action storyline. However, conflicting reports claim that the series could, in fact, be an animated series. If Tales of the Jedi is live action, fans will finally get to see Cal Kestis in the flesh. Nevertheless, it will be cool to see the character reappear in any form.

When is Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 coming out?

Of course, Kestis’ series appearance will be a massive win for fans of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, but there's also more excitement surrounding the video game. For example, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2.

Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment have announced that the video game sequel is in development. While there's currently no Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 release date, it’s expected to release in 2023.

In other news, Star Wars video game fans are looking forward to another title — Star Wars: Eclipse. Developed by Quantic Dream, the video game has come under fire for its developers’ issues with homophobia and abuse resulting in massive fan backlash.

With Disney now releasing the Star Wars IP from EA exclusivity, even more Star Wars games are in development. For example, even Assassins Creed developer Ubisoft is working on a title. However, they may all be years away at this point.

With so much Star Wars media in the works, it’s a great time to be a fan of the franchise. At this point, there’s more worries about content oversaturation than a content drought. Long Live Star Wars?
