Earlier this month Nintendo confirmed that Super Mario 3D World, originally released on the Wii U in 2013, is getting a Nintendo Switch port with new content and a slight graphical enhancement.
The game is available to pre-order now, ahead of its release on February 12th. Alongside the much-requested Switch version of the charming platformer, Nintendo is also releasing two new Amiibo on the same day.
Modelled after the cat-suit powerup, which plays a big part in 3D World’s gameplay, these official figures feature feline versions of Mario and Princess Peach.
We’ve got all the information you need to make sure you can get your paws on them come February...

Where can I pre-order these Amiibos?
Due for release alongside the Switch port of Super Mario 3D World, the Cat Mario and Cat Peach Amiibos will be available from February 12th.
Several retailers are taking pre-orders, including Amazon and GAME. Seeing as Amiibos are notorious for being tricky to get hold of after release day if you want to bring these adorable miniatures home we strongly recommend you get your pre-order in quick.
Can these Amiibos be bought separately?
Nintendo typical releases Amiibos individually, but it’s not unheard of for them to bundle several together into a larger multipack.
Cat Mario and Cat Peach are getting the multipack treatment and can only be bought together - which will come as a disappointment if you had your eyes on one in particular.
At least in the UK/Europe this is the case, in the US they are being released separately, for some reason…
What in-game extras do these Amiibos unlock?
Amiibos traditional unlock extra goodies in whatever game they’re tied too, and we expect that to be the case here.
Nintendo hasn’t yet confirmed what Cat Mario and Cat Peach will unlock in Super Mario 3D World, but they’re unlikely to be fancy paperweights and will surely serve some purpose in-game.
