Amazon has SLASHED the price of this Western Digital 500GB SSD to just £70

Amazon has been frequently reducing the price of Western Digital storage over the last few weeks and this latest deal sees the online retailer reducing the price of the WD_Black 500GB SN750 NVMe SSD down to just £69.99.

SSD is something of a buzzword in the gaming space at the minute, so if you’re wanting to get in on the action then this deal is the perfect place to start.

WD 500GB SN750 NVMe SSD specs

Offering read speeds of up to 3,430MB/s, as well as write speeds of up to 2600MB/s, this WD_Black SSD will boost the load times of basically everything on your PC from the OS itself to games and applications.

Another useful feature is the WD_Black SSD Dashboard, which allows you to optimise performance by enabling gaming mode. This disables some background functions and keeps your drive firing on all cylinders for maximum performance when gaming.

A slightly cheaper alternative

If you’re after something on the cheaper side then we’d recommend the WD_Blue 250GB SN500 SSD, which is currently being sold on Amazon for the bargain price of just £44.99.

The catch is the drive’s slower read/write speed compared to the SN750 NVMe SSD, though it is of course still significantly faster than a standard HDD.

Plus it only offers half the storage, which means you'll likely only be able to store a few games before the drive is full. When you consider some of the mammoth install sizes demanded by recent AAA releases you might find the drive filling up quicker than you'd like.

If price is the deciding factor then this is a good option, but if you can stretch your budget we’d definitely recommend going with the WD_Black 500GB SN750 NVMe SSD instead.
