How to fix Error 6068 in Warzone or Modern Warfare

Because of the range of causes for this error, there is a wide range of fixes as well. We'll assume you've tried the really basic things like restarting your computer. The most consistent remedies we've seen are as follows:

• Run the game as an administrator. Administrator privileges allow the game to access the files and services it needs to run properly. To grant this access:
  • Open the Battle.net launcher and open the Call of Duty window.
  • Then click on Options.
  • Now select Show in Explorer
  • Next, in the Call of Duty folder, find and right-click on Call of Duty file (the file with .exe extension).
  • Finally, in the sub-menu, click on Run as an administrator and check if the problem is solved
• Activision have suggested the workaround is to try running VRAM under maximum and/or run the game with default settings.
• If this doesn't work, the next thing to check is to make sure that Windows, and all the relevant system drivers are fully up-to-date. This also includes making sure you have installed the latest GPU drivers.
• Upgrade your RAM. Lots of users have reported that upgrading their RAM has fixed this error. It's suggested that users with less than 3000MHz RAM were most likely to be effected by error 6068.
• Scan and repair the game files. To do this:
  • Open the Battle.net launcher and click on Modern Warfare from the left panel
  • Click on Options (next to the “Redeem a Code” option)
  • Click on “Scan and Repair” from the dropdown menu, and the Battle.net client will do the rest.
• Another option we've seen suggested is to run the game using DirectX 11 instead of DirectX 12. While this may seem counterintuitive, sometimes a newer API can be more than your computer can handle, or update files may be incompatible. To do this:
  • Open the Battle.net launcher and open Options.

• Now open Game Settings.
• Then for Call of Duty, check the option of Additional Command Line Arguments and type in -d3d11.

• A final option is to consider uninstalling and then reinstalling the game.

If none of these remedies work, then it may be time to make contact with Activision Support for further help and advice.

What causes Error 6068 in Call of Duty: Warzone?

Dev Error 6068 is a pretty serious issue. When it strikes, usually within 10 minutes of starting the game, it will boot players back to the desktop screen, and the game will stop responding. The most common reasons for the error are outlined above, but to recap:
