A video game based on Star Wars’ The Mandalorian series could be a brilliant addition to the spin-off series. One fan has created a mock-up of what such a game could look like, and it’s pretty damn cool.
Posted on Twitter by Battlefield developer Gavin Marshall, a mock-up for The Mandalorian: Way of The Warrior shows a new vision for bringing Lucasfilm’s iconic character to the video game industry.
Created using a mixture of Blender, Unreal, Photoshop, and more, Marshall’s mock-up is a beautiful example of what we could expect from a Mandalorian game.
Marshall’s mock-up shows the series' protagonist Din Djarin in a gorgeous sci-fi world, covered in lush alien foliage with an almost Morrowind-like feel. Another image shows the titular Mandalorian standing in an Endor-like forest, looking suave at the camera.
The fake video game even has a faux equipment screen showing a number of different helmets that players would be able to equip. Alongside Din Djarin typical helmet, Boba Fett’s helmet, Kylo Ren’s helmet, a Stormtrooper helmet and more are shown.
Unfortunately, Marshall’s mock-up isn’t going to be turned into a title, but there is hope that a Mandalorian video game could be released someday. Previously, rumours claimed that Xbox had discussed a possible exclusive Mandalorian video game, but nothing has been confirmed.
Nevertheless, a number of other Star Wars games are still in the works. After the release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Respawn Entertainment has already started working on the series’ third game. Additionally, Ubisoft’s upcoming Star Wars Outlaws releases next year as a space-faring GTA game with numerous explorable planets.
Finally, Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human devs Quantic Dream are working on Star Wars: Eclipse, a narrative-style AAA game set in the series’ High Republic era.
Despite the lack of a Mandalorian game, Star Wars fans are gorging on new games and content. We may never get a Din Djarin game, outside of an appearance in a future Battlefront title, but there’s a lot of other games to experience.
