The Mandalorian Season 4 is already in the writing process, says Jon Favreau

Fans are already pumped for The Mandalorian Season 3 after two great stories already. In case fans were worried that Season 3 would be the last time the beloved bounty hunter, showrunner Jon Favreau has confirmed that a fourth season is in the works.

It would have been easy to assume that The Mandalorian would be heading towards its end goal, with only a couple of plot threads left to follow up on. However, that's definitely not the case.

Jon Favreau confirms The Mandalorian Season 4

As part of the ongoing Star Wars celebration, Jon Favreau was asked by Cinemablend about the current state of Star Wars shows. While talking about what’s coming next, Favreau revealed that he’s already writing The Mandalorian Season 4.

Favreau also revealed that the new season will follow events from the upcoming Ahsoka show. This means that the upcoming show will be an integral part of the overall story.

“With television, we're very lucky that we don't have to rush things through into an hour-and-a-half, two hours,” Favreu said. “We get to tell stories slowly. So now, as Dave [Filoni]'s doing Ahsoka, it's very much informing the writing that I'm doing for [The Mandalorian] Season 4. It becomes – how should I put it – more precise.”

Knowing that the Star Wars creators are working together to create a tightly-knit set of shows is fun, especially since it means more of Favreau’s work on The Mandalorian. It’s not a perfect plan. For example, The Book of Bobba Fett was a massively flawed show that didn’t always focus on the title character.

Other Mandalorians and Bo-Katan

Despite all this talk about Season 4, many fans are still excited to see how The Mandalorian Season 3 pans out after that Season 2 finale. Din and Bo-Katan have unfinished business regarding the awesome Darksaber, so it’s good to know that Season 3 will deal with that. Jon also confirmed that we’ll learn more about the various Mandalorian tribes.

“When I was writing the first season of Mandalorian, I could do anything, set it anywhere. Dave [Filoni] would read it, we'd go back and forth, I would adjust,” explains Favreau. “And there it was. Now we have to figure out why there are certain Mandalorians who wear helmets, certain ones who don't wear helmets, what's happening on Mandalore, what's Bo-Katan doing at the time? How does she feel about that? Where is the Darksaber? So it really creates very fertile ground for imagination, for storytelling.”

The ever-growing nature of Star Wars has been mixed since it usually leads to more content rather than concluding storylines naturally. In fairness, The Mandalorian has been able to keep a consistent quality despite indulging in its own fair share of fanservice. Hopefully, the upcoming third and fourth seasons of The Mandalorian are able to keep it.
