It’s been almost two years since the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. While the franchise has continued on TV, Disney’s massive film plans have been put on the backburner. However, Disney appears to be changing tact with a new movie based on Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Disney wants to capitalise on Star Wars: The Old Republic nostalgia

The unannounced movie will be tied to the established universe of Star Wars: The Old Republic. Set during the rise of the Jedi religion, the movie would give moviegoers a fresh look into the iconic universe.
Allegedly, Star Wars: The Old Republic will start filming next year on a fast production schedule. Reportedly, the movie will take over the planned release date of Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron film. As a result, Rogue Squadron will now release in 2024 following a major rewrite.
