Star Wars Jedi: Survivor continues to leave a positive impact on the franchise, regardless of its well-documented performance issues. With both critics and fans enjoying the game, EA is confident that the “Jedi” franchise will continue to be meaningful well into the future
During EA’s financial conference call (via TechRaptor), CEO Andrew Wilson boasted about the company’s partnership with Disney and LucasFilm. Like many fans, Wilson is hoping to see another game in the Star Wars Jedi series following Survivor’s success.
“We may be a little biased, but our sense based on the feedback we're getting from our community and the quality of the product, is that it's one of the great beats in the Star Wars Galaxy this year, and will likely continue to be a very meaningful part of that Galaxy for many years to come,” Wilson said).
On the same call, Wilson also confirmed that a PS4 and Xbox One version of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is in early development. Previous interviews claimed that this game wouldn’t be possible on last-gen systems so the announcement has fans talking.
The director of Survivor, Stig Asmussen, also wants a third game so that we get a compete trilogy. Considering how we have three Star Wars trilogies in movie form, having one in video game form has fans interested. Furthermore, many are also desperate to see the finale of Cal Kestis’ adventure.
Although the exclusive deal between EA and Star Wars is done, the success of Fallen Order and Survivor should ensure more games. Despite the Battlefront 2 controversy a few years ago, EA and Disney seem to be on good terms. Currently, EA is working on a new Iron Man game for current-gen systems, approved by Disney.
