Star Wars Jedi 3 has seemingly been confirmed, but a huge part of the game series’ success won’t be there for it. The pseudo announcement for this third entry comes at an awkward time, as director Stig Asmussen has left Respawn Entertainment.
Cameron Monaghan, the motion capture and voice actor of Cal Kestis, confirmed that a third game in the series was in development. Monaghan dropped this major bombshell during the Ocala Comic-Con (covered by VGC), claiming that they’re still ‘in the process’ of making this third entry.
“We’re working on a third and we’re in the process of doing that right now,” Monaghan said in the Ocala Comic-Con. “That’s a big undertaking and there have been some conversations so far, but hopefully when all things and said and done we’ll be able to go in and make something really cool.”
At the time of writing, EA and Respawn have not confirmed the existence of Star Wars Jedi 3, though it’s likely coming. Prior to leaving Respawn, Asmussen expressed interest in making Cal Kestis’ journey a trilogy, making it a proper Star Wars story.
Currently, EA and Respawn are still working out the kinks of Jedi: Survivor, as the second title in this trilogy launched in a really bad state. Patches have since been released but there are still a lot of problems, especially with the PC version.
Making these issues more prevalent is that EA and Respawn have plans to bring Jedi: Survivor to PS4 and Xbox One. How both companies can accomplish this while barely getting the title to run on PS5 and Xbox Series is beyond us. At the least, it should make for some fascinating last-gen jank that might make it worth buying for its existence alone.

Details on Star Wars Jedi 3 won’t be confirmed for a while, though Monaghan’s announcement is as official as it can be. Fans can pick up Jedi: Survivor and its predecessor Jedi: Fallen Order on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
