Cal Kestis' journey is far from over as Respawn Entertainment is already gearing up to work on a new title in the Star Wars Jedi series. Following on from the fantastic Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, new job postings reveal that the series' third game is on the horizon.
This is definitely unsurprising considering the success of both titles in the Jedi series: Fallen Order and Survivor. Developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts, the Dark Souls-inspired action games have become huge hits for the Titanfall dev.
Looking at the studio's job postings, we can see that Respawn is looking for a main game writer, a senior position which would require the applicant to have several years of experience in writing for AAA games, alongside VFX artists and more.
Star Wars Jedi Survivor director Stig Asmussen previously talked with IGN, stating his wish to make Cal Kestis' story into a trilogy of games, like all the best Star Wars stories. He mentioned that a third title would likely happen if "Jedi: Survivor performs well." We would say that he definitely got his wish.
Clearly, we won't be seeing this new title for a while. Considering that between Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor, there was a wait of four years, we would definitely think that we might be seeing the third title in 2027.
A third Jedi game isn't the only Star Wars title that Respawn Entertainment is working on. Back in January, the company announced they were working on three different Star Wars games (with one being Jedi Survivor). "We are huge fans of Star Wars here at Respawn and we’re thrilled to work with Lucasfilm Games on new titles that we have wanted to make for years” said Vince Zampella, Respawn co-founder.
Despite what your feelings are regarding the recent Disney projects for Star Wars might be, it is definitely fair to say that it is a great time to be a Star Wars fan and an avid gamer.
