With TikTok's future hanging in the balance, competitors are stepping in to fill the void.
Bluesky and X (formerly Twitter) have launched vertical video feeds, leveraging TikTok's famous model while adding their unique twists.

Bluesky's latest version includes a customized video feed on the app's Search page. Users can view current videos, pin the feed for convenient access, or customize it to focus on specific hashtags, such as a #BookSky feed similar to TikTok's BookTok.
The decentralized network prioritizes flexibility, allowing users to build feeds based on their interests while keeping conventional posts distinct from video timelines. Navigation is similar to TikTok's simplicity, with swipe movements to browse, a tap to pause, and options to like, share, or comment.
Additional capabilities, such as translation, muting tags, and customizing content recommendations, give users more flexibility.
For those anxious to try out the new functionality, Bluesky recommends restarting the program to apply the latest enhancements. It also credits AT Protocol developers with building TikTok-inspired competitors such as Tik.Blue and Skylight.Social provides even more video-centric experiences.
Meanwhile, X released its vertical video feed significantly sooner, initially targeting only U.S. consumers. A dedicated "Video Tab," symbolized by a play button icon, gives users access to a tailored video stream with sports, entertainment, and news material.
X's UI incorporates capabilities such as casting to larger displays and reducing videos for multitasking, demonstrating a focus on usability.

These additions come amidst Instagram's efforts to capitalize on TikTok's fragile status. Instagram recently introduced a taller grid for profiles to better exhibit vertical content and Edits, a new video editing software.
Despite some backlash, the platform remains committed to refining its tools for video creators.
TikTok's brief absence from US app stores due to government constraints on its parent company, ByteDance, opened an opportunity for competitors. While TikTok has been reinstated, uncertainty remains, allowing BlueSky, X, and others to redesign the vertical video landscape.
As the competition heats up, users stand to benefit from a broad range of video-centric features across platforms.
