Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is shaping up to be one mysterious sequel. With the passing of Chadwick Boseman, the mantle of Black Panther will be passed onto Letitia Wright’s Shuri.
However, it would appear that Shuri’s tenure as the Wakandan hero will not last all that long. Reportedly, the second iteration of Black Panther will only be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a single movie.
Leakers confirm Shuri as the next Black Panther
While many expect the mantle of Black Panther to be handed down to Shuri, Marvel has yet to confirm who will be the title’s successor. However, it does appear that T’Challa’s younger sister will be the next warrior of Wakanda.
According to trusted Marvel insider Daniel Richtman, Letitia Wright’s character will take centre stage. Additionally, the character will fight a classic Black Panther villain in Wakanda Forever: Namor. Richtman said:
“I can confirm Shuri is the lead and Namor is the villain.”

Letitia Wright only wants to do one movie
After the leak released, additional leaks were released to expand upon the role of Shuri in the MCU. Marvel and DC leaker Grace Randolph revealed that the character will not be Black Panther for long. In fact, it’s been claimed that she’ll only be the hero for just one movie.
On Twitter, Randolph claimed that Letitia Wright only wants to be the hero for a single film. Additionally, her successor will allegedly be named at the end of the upcoming movie. Randolph said:
“Ah, but get this - Shuri will be Black Panther for just one movie… at the request of Letitia Wright. Someone else will become Black Panther - and that’s all I’m going to say because I don’t want to ruin the end of the movie. It’s a great choice though, people will be happy.”
