Samsung announced plans to create a new XR solution with Google and Qualcomm during the Galaxy unpacked 2023 event. Nearly two years later, fans are still waiting to see what this partnership has produced. Speculation about Samsung's XR device has been all over the internet, especially after the release of the Apple Vision Pro. Reports suggest that Samsung might have considered its original design after Apple's device received a warm reception.

Samsung's XR gadget, which was previously meant to resemble a virtual reality headset, is now likely to resemble standard glasses. However, the adjustments have stalled development, raising concerns over whether the device will be unveiled at the January 2025 Unpacked event.

According to recent reports, Samsung may launch smart glasses with its Galaxy S25 series. The glasses are expected to look like lightweight sunglasses that compete with the Ray-Ban Meta glasses. Unlike other AR devices, they may not have built-in displays and focus on AI-powered features like voice recognition and gesture control.

Industry insiders believe that the glasses may appear at the Unpacked event as a teaser and then get launched fully in 2025. There are also rumours that the company will soon launch a new XR platform, which would point to a larger plan for its XR lineup.

Whether Samsung's XR glasses will be ready for the Unpacked 2025 remains to be seen. However, given that the company usually lines up hardware launches with the launch of new smartphones, fans can expect a glimpse of what's coming. For now, all we can do is wait for future updates on this potentially game-changing device.
