Next week’s Pokémon Presents might finally bring the classic Pokémon games to Nintendo Switch. Fans have been begging for a way to play these classic RPGs on modern systems and next week’s presentation could give them the news they’ve been waiting for.

The Pokémon Company released a short video about the presentation next week, getting many fans excited. While nothing concrete was teased in the video, they did play familiar Pokémon music, getting fans excited about the possibility of playing these classics on Switch.

Although it hasn’t been confirmed, many are positive that the music tease means next week’s Pokémon Presents will bring the series’ classic RPGs. Everyone’s hoping for the chance to play Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow via the Nintendo Switch Online’s Game Boy emulator. There’s also hope for Gold, Silver, Crystal, and the GBA games but fans are keeping their expectations in check.

Having these games on the NSO Game Boy emulator would be pretty great. While not the most robust emulator around, NSO does offer save states and filters that mimic the original Game Boy, Game Boy Light, and Game Boy Color. These filters weren’t available in the 3DS versions, giving a decent advantage to Switch.

With support for the 3DS eShop closing in a month, fans are running out of options to play these classic games. That means fans have a limited amount of time to buy Pokémon Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, and Crystal on Nintendo’s last-gen handheld. If these games end up on NSO’s Game Boy catalog, players would be ecstatic.

Details on next week’s Pokémon Presents are pretty slim, aside from a Scarlet and Violet update that will fix a number of issues. A new Pokémon Mystery Dungeon game has been rumored since fans found Spike Chunsoft’s logo through data mining. Fans are also hoping to see the long-rumored Scarlet and Violet DLC that might bring back Mega Evolutions.
