Those outside of the Star Wars damson don’t tend to look back at the prequels fondly, mostly remembering hokey acting and the worst of its dialogue. However, over the years, love has been found for the trilogy, mostly due to its catalogue of memes. All that being said, fans and non-fans will agree that the films have greatly memorable fight scenes and it seems that the Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi series is going to give us similar combat choreography.
Hayden Christensen, reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader for the Star Wars series, has explained that fans will see fight scenes more in line with the prequels on the Disney+ show. We hope this means dynamic scuffles that take place in multiple areas like The Phantom Menace and Revenge of the Sith.
Obi-Wan Kenobi vs Darth Vader will be like the prequels
During an interview, Christensen says that the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series isn’t that far off from the prequels so the characters still have some pep in their step when fighting. Christensen says the minor time jump means we won’t be seeing the slower combat similar to the original Star Wars trilogy.
“Is Darth’s fighting style more in line with the prequels or the slower dancing in the sequels? We’re more in line with the prequels than we are with how the fights are in the original trilogy. These characters have aged, but not that much yet.”

Hayden Christensen explained that Vader will be in his physical prime in the new show, allowing fans to see him go all out in combat. To prepare, the Anakin Skywalker actor had to bulk up and stay in shape despite Vader losing most of his limbs on a volcanic planet.
"Most of my work on this project was in preparation," he said. "The physical preparation was intense. I had to put on a decent amount of weight and size to fill up the suit.”

Does Vader need to show off his stuff?
On one hand, Darth Vader is one of the best villains in fiction and should always be portrayed as a badass. That being said, we’ve seen Vader beat down foes with ease in Rogue One, a number of Star Wars comics, and even the Jedi: Fallen Order video game. It feels like Vader has been exploited a lot over the years and seeing him in action just doesn’t seem special.
Then again, Obi-Wan Kenobi is for Star Wars fans and not Star Wars cynics. With Darth Maul not returning, Obi-Wan will need some kind of foe to take on in the show. Who better than his former pupil and The Grand Inquisitor?
Fans will be able to see if Obi-Wan Kenobi lives up to the hype when it comes to Disney+ on May 27. They can even watch the Star Wars prequels if they want to go through the same hell Vader did when Obi-Wan had the high ground.
