Metaverse is a 3D virtual world that could shape the future of gaming and social media. You can explore the virtual world online using your avatar (cartoonish you) with the aid of AR/VR lenses. Creating a truly immersive and fun experience for the players is the main idea behind the concept of metaverse games.
Take the games Roblox and Fortnite, these games are so different but they both have a very similar concept in the way of a virtual world. In this article, we will discuss whether Roblox and Fortnite are metaverse games or not. Jump in!
Is Roblox a Metaverse?
The answer is simple and straightforward; no. Roblox is not a metaverse game. Consequently, it doesn’t have a metaverse. On this occasion, Roblox is just a game where you can play with other users by creating your own characters and playing games that are designed by Roblox developers. In this world, you can also make your own games and share them with other players who have a Roblox account.
However, Roblox will be a metaverse game in the future. The company recently outlined its vision for the metaverse as a place where “people can come together within millions of 3D experiences to learn, work, play, create and socialize.” Hopefully, this vision becomes a reality and we all can enjoy a better and more immersive experience on Roblox.

Is Fortnite a Metaverse Game?
Summing up the facts: No, Fortnite is not a metaverse game. Metaverse is a very new concept/technology and it will take years before it is widely adopted. It is still in its infancy, so it is not yet mature enough to be used as a platform for games.
However, the good news is Epic Games (creator of Fortnite) is working towards its long-term vision for the metaverse. In support of the vision, the company recently raised $1 billion in funding.
We are grateful to our new and existing investors who support our vision for Epic and the Metaverse. Their investment will help accelerate our work around building connected social experiences in Fortnite, Rocket League and Fall Guys, while empowering game developers and creators with Unreal Engine, Epic Online Services and the Epic Games Store
