With the Marvel Cinematic Universe being one of the biggest media franchises, you can bet there's excitement when a new trailer. Even if the Marvel fever has yet to hit you, it’s a franchise that's impossible to escape, especially when Marvel trailers are everywhere online.
Marvel trailers are incredibly popular
Over the past few years, Marvel trailers have consistently broke viewing records for online videos. From the first trailer for Avengers: Infinity War to the recently released Thor: Love and Thunder First Look, the numbers keep coming in.
In just 24 hours, Marvel trailers garner hundreds of millions of views, an achievement rarely reached by non-Marvel movies. For example, in the list of most viewed trailers, Marvel movies make up the top four slots. Additionally, six of the top ten are Marvel movies.
In terms of comic book movies, only Marvel movies garner this type of rabid excitement from fans. Not a single DC movie has a spot on the top ten list, despite trailers such as The Batman and Zack Snyder’s Justice League bringing in strong view counts.
Out of the most successful trailers, one movie stands above the rest as the most hyped trailer. Despite Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame both being near the top, the most-viewed trailer is Spider-Man: No Way Home with over 355 million views in 24 hours.
The full list of trailers is as follows:
- Spider-Man: No Way Home (Teaser Trailer) — 355.5 Million
- Avengers: Endgame (Teaser Trailer) — 289 Million
- Avengers: Endgame (Final Trailer) — 268 Million
- Avengers: Infinity War (Teaser Trailer) — 230 Million
- The Lion King (Teaser Trailer) — 224.6 Million
- Thor: Love and Thunder (Teaser Trailer) — 209 Million
- IT (Teaser Trailer) — 197 Million
- Avengers: Infinity War (Final Trailer) — 179 Million
- Mulan (Teaser Trailer) — 175.1 Million
- The Lion King (Final Trailer) — 174 Million

Disney dominates the industry
The list of most-viewed trailers definitively proves two things: Marvel is overwhelmingly popular and Disney dominates the industry. In the entirety of the most-viewed trailers list, only one movie is now owned by Disney: IT.
Since Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox, many have expressed upset at Disney’s hold on the entertainment industry. However, what's glaringly apparent is that Disney's hold on the industry is already here, without the need for any of Fox’s additional properties.
Curiously, the most-viewed trailers in 24 hours doesn't feature a single trailer for any Star Wars movies. While those movie trailers bring in substantial view counts over time, they don't have the same amount of instant hype.
