Marvel is working hard to make sure that every one its properties is nestled within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Disney Plus ushering in an all new platform for the MCU, all non-MCU programs (such as MODOK) have can cancelled.
Is MODOK Season 2 cancelled?
Via Variety, Marvel is sweeping house with its last few remaining non-MCU properties. This isn’t too surprising; Marvel has already cancelled a litany of beloved shows including Netflix’s Daredevil and Agents of Shield.
As one of the only Marvel shows still existing outside of the MCU, the mature animated show MODOK was scrapped mid-development of season two. The hilarious Robot Chicken style show was quickly axed before the release of a true ending.
MODOK was among a few animated shows that offered a more explicit look at Marvel. The now-shuttered Marvel Television was also working on Hit Monkey which recently released its first season.
Much like MODOK, Hit Monkey is not likely to get a second season. However, if the show becomes overwhelmingly popular, Marvel Studios might bite the bullet and continue the story.

Patton Oswalt responds
After reports released detailing the cancellation of MODOK, main actor Patton Oswalt took to Twitter to discuss the situation. In a short tweet, the actor said that working on the show was a one of a kind experience.
“*Sigh*, oh well,” he said. “Got to work with the best writers, a dream voice cast, and Marvel let us run amok in their toy box. Another great experience. Forward!"
Patton Oswalt isn’t completely cut out of the Marvel toy box after the show’s cancellation. Recently, the actor made his debut MCU as Pit the Troll.
Many were hoping, as well as Oswald, that the actor would reprise his role as MODOK in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The character is set to appear in the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. However, it looks like that role is already taken.
