Liam Neeson refuses to return to Star Wars TV, but will consider a movie

Action star Liam Neeson is fondly remembered as Star Wars Jedi Qui-Gon Jinn. Debuting in Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, the actor helped to kickstart Star Wars’ resurgence in the late 90s.

Decades later, fans have clamoured for Neeson to return in a live-action Star Wars TV show. However, the actor has explained that he will only return to the franchise on one condition.

Liam Neeson will only play Qui-Gon in movies

In an interview with ComicBook, Neeson explained that he would be interested in playing Qui-Gon Jinn again. The actor told the outlet that it would be exciting to reprise the role, but he does have some limitations.

For example, Neeson told the outlet that he isn’t really interested in starring in TV shows. Instead, the actor would only play the character in live action if it was on the big screen.

When asked if he would come back, the actor said:

“Oh, I think so, yeah, yeah, yeah, I think so ... if it was a film. Yeah, I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to TV, I must admit, I just like the big screen, you know?”

Afterwards, the actor reminisced on the past two decades of Star Wars. He reflected:

“Qui-Gon, I can't believe it's 24 years since we made [Star Wars:] The Phantom Menace, I just cannot believe where the time has gone. It was a terrific experience, shooting that film in London."

He’s already been in Star Wars TV

Despite Neeson’s explanation, Star Wars still are not convinced that the actor will not be in TV shows. For example, many are convinced that Qui-Gon Jinn will at least cameo in the upcoming Obi-Wan series.

These thoughts are based on the fact that Neeson has already starred in Star Wars TV shows. Over the past twenty years, Neeson starred in multiple episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Of course, that was an animated series instead of a live-action adventure.

In recent years, Neeson also reprised the role of Qui-Gon Jinn in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. However, this was just for a single line in the final act, and it was only a voiceover.

There’s only a month to go until Obi-Wan Kenobi releases. If Liam Neeson is in the upcoming series, then it won’t take long for us to find out.
