Sony's off-shoot Spider-Man universe is starting to expand. Starting with 2018's Venom movie, Sony Pictures has begun work on their own cinematic universe. After Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Sony will release the Jared Leto movie Morbius. After that, Kraven the Hunter.
Sony's Kraven the Hunter movie has been in development for over four years. However, the film has reportedly struggled to find an actor to play the leading role. After multiple failed attempts to cast high-profile actors, Sony has reportedly signed on MCU Quicksilver Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson is Kraven the Hunter
Sony has revealed that they have signed on Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kraven the Hunter. Known for his work in Kick-Ass, Godzilla, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Tenet, the award-winning actor could be a good fit.
After reportedly seeing footage of the actor in the upcoming Bullet Train movie, Sony decided to pursue the actor. As the upcoming Kraven movie will be an intense action movie, Taylor-Johnson’s action prowess is a must-have for the film.
Sony's Spider-Man spin-off universe is supposed to be tied to Marvel's main cinematic universe. With that in mind, it is weird to see an MCU actor grab a leading role for one of Sony's films. However, as Taylor-Johnson's new character is unlikely to interact with the main MCU cast, it shouldn't be an issue.

Sony wanted Brad Pitt or Keanu Reeves
Following the reveal of Taylor-Johnson’s hiring, Deadline reporter Justin Kroll revealed Sony's prior plans. Sony was reportedly planning to grab high-profile actors for the role. Of course, this would follow the trend set by hiring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock in Venom.
Kroll explains that Sony tried to get Brad Pitt, Keanu Reeves, John David Washington and Adam Driver to take the role. All four actors have reportedly passed on the role of Kraven for Sony's universe.
Kraven the Hunter has been scheduled for release on January 13th, 2023.
