The console versions of Ascendant Studiosā€™ Immortals of Aveum will receive an update in the coming weeks that will bring AMDā€™s FSR3 frame generation technology, the first time this would happen in console history.

FSR3 is the third version of the GPU manufacturerā€™s FidelityFX Super Resolution technology, which smoothens video output and boosts actual frame rates when turned on.

AMD unveiled the new FSR technology during Gamescom in August of last year. The company tested the latest technology in Immortals of Aveum using PCs equipped with the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 6800 XT GPUs at 4K and 1440p resolutions, respectively.

According to the company, Immortals of Aveum recorded latencies of 40, 37, and 72 milliseconds (ms) at 167, 107, and 57 frames per second (FPS) using the 7900 XTX. On the other hand, the RX 6800 clocked 43, 37, and 63 ms at 128, 113, and 63 FPS. These figures indicate a significant improvement in the game's responsiveness and fluidity, promising an enhanced gaming experience with the upcoming update.

Although it did take a few months to announce, Ascendant Studios announced that they will be rolling out a future update, patch 1.0.6.4, that will bring the technology to the console versions of their revolutionary magic-based first-person shooter (FPS).

The update will also introduce support for PC and consoles' variable refresh rate (VRR) monitors. VRR support was nonexistent in earlier iterations of FSR3, but AMD had released updates to address that deficiency.

According to their press release, a separate update for the gameā€™s PC versions will be rolling out in the future to further improve their performance in Immortals of Aveum. This update will focus on optimising the game's performance on PC, ensuring a smoother and more enjoyable gaming experience.

Unfortunately, the PR fell short of specifying a release date, an update that Ascendant should announce in the next couple of weeks at the earliest.
