Is Minecraft On Oculus Quest 2? How To Play Minecraft On Oculus Quest 2

Is Minecraft on Oculus Quest 2? That's a question that's being asked by many Quest owners.

With hundreds of millions of players, Minecraft is one of the world's most popular games. And it may be appealing to experience the world through VR. Whether or not you can play Minecraft on the Oculus Quest 2, one of the leading VR headsets currently on the market, is the issue we'll be exploring today. Players are looking to see if Pavlov VR is on Oculus, or if Skyrim VR is on Oculus Quest, too.

We know that the game is available on the Oculus Rift. But has it made the leap onto the latest and greatest model in the Oculus range? Let's find out.

Can You Play Minecraft On Oculus Quest 2?

Sadly, a search for Minecraft on the Quest 2 games and apps page draws a blank, suggesting that the game has not yet made the transition to this VR headset.

But that isn't the whole story.

Minecraft has, in fact, been made compatible with the Quest 2, even if it isn't currently showing on the Oculus 2 games page. It is the Java Edition as opposed to the Bedrock Edition, which may be worth bearing in mind.

So if you want to experience the game in its full virtual reality glory, it is possible. But it will take a bit of time and effort, before reaching the sunlit uplands of your beautiful world. Let's take a look at what you need to do.

How To Play Minecraft On Oculus Quest 2

Before you can play Minecraft on Quest 2, you need to do the following:

  • Make sure you have Java installed on your PC so you can run the Java Edition of the game
  • Download the Java Edition of Minecraft - you can test it on your PC to make sure it is running correctly
  • Next, download and install Steam VR on your PC
  • You then need to download and install something called Vivecraft - this is VR Minecraft for Steam VR
  • Once you've done this, open Minecraft Java, and choose the Vivecraft Profile, to be able to run the game on your Quest 2
  • You also need to install the Virtual Desktop Streamer Application, which allows your computer screen to be displayed through your VR headset

Once you have all the relevant software ready to run:

  • Run Virtual Desktop Streamer
  • Connect to your PC
  • Start Steam VR
  • And Run the game

It isn't perhaps the most seamless way to get Minecraft up and running, but it will allow you to play it on your Quest 2, at least until an official version is made available specifically for that VR headset.
