A new Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth trailer was shown during Sony’s State of Play and it has everybody hyped even more for the sequel. With a big world to traverse through and numerous side content to take part in, it’s not too surprising to know that this adventure is around 100 hours.
Director Naoki Hamaguchi commented on Rebirth after the trailer dropped, sharing some fun details about the upcoming adventure. Hamaguchi said that the sequel will embrace “free exploration,” promising fans nearly 100 hours of adventure, getting them even more pumped.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake was a pretty linear adventure overall, detailing the first third or so of the story with a more meta-narrative. Now that we’re at the point of the story where Cloud and the party are out of Midgar, having more freedom is the natural progression.
While 100-hour adventures are a bit much, it does make sense in the case of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Since there will be a lot of towns for Cloud and his friends to visit, that also means a ton of stories, side missions, and various mini-games. Once fans saw the Golden Saucer in the trailer, they knew this would be a long game.
Most of the fan-favorite side content from the original makes an appearance in the most recent trailer. Chocobo racing, boxing, the dates with Tifa, Aerith, or Barret, pretty much everything fans want is here. Add the mystery behind Zack’s return, Vincent Valentine’s debut, and the death of…you know who, there’s a lot for fans to sink their teeth into.
Now that we know what Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is, that seemingly explains the two discs on PlayStation 5. That’s a lot of content and it will be interesting to see just how the third game will top this one.
