We’re only three episodes into Obi-Wan Kenobi and racist viewers have already taken to harassing Reva actress Moses Ingram. Thankfully, Obi-Wan Kenobi star and producer Ewan McGregor has blasted those “fans”, criticising them for harassing the actress.
Considering how bad Star Wars “fans” have been to the women and minorities of this franchise, it’s good to see someone like Ewan McGregor stand up to them. It’s not just McGregor either as the Star Wars social media accounts have also defended Kelly Marie Tran, showing that the light side of The Force is stronger than ever.
Ewan McGregor thanks fans and dunks on racists
For anyone not familiar with the situation, Obi-Wan Kenobi actor Moses Ingram has been on the receiving end of vile racist comments from Star Wars “fans.” After news of the situation arose, Obi-Wan actor Ewan McGregor went on Instagram to discuss the situation.
In his quick video, McGregor thanks fans for the successful premiere of Obi-Wan Kenobi. However, the actor made sure to blast the racists attacking Ingram, claiming that none of them are true fans.
“We stand with Moses, we love Moses,” McGregor said on Instagram. “And if you’re sending her bullying messages, you’re no Star Wars fan in my mind. There’s no place for racism in this world and I totally stand with Moses.”
McGregor could have easily left Moses to fend for herself, much like the Avengers cast did to Brie Larson when she was attacked by sexist fans. However, seeing him go out of his way to do proves that he is truly Obi-Wan Kenobi, fighting against injustice.

Star Wars strikes back
The racist attacks against Moses Ingram have been so bad that not only has Ewan McGregor defended her but so has the official Star Wars social media account. On Twitter, they welcomed her with open arms, informing racist fans that they won’t fold to their demands.
Very rarely does a billion-dollar company look better than social media fans but they’ve got the high ground on this argument. However, it's still a shame to see so many Star Wars viewers act this way. We haven’t progressed much since The Last Jedi came out.
Still, if the folks at Disney and Star Wars continue to stand their ground while hiring more diverse actors, it can’t all be bad. Remember: if you go out of your way to attack someone for their gender, race, sexual preferences or anything else, you're in the wrong.
