Daredevil: Born Again may redo events from the Netflix show, says Charlie Cox

Charlie Cox is back as the Devil of Hell's Kitchen. Returning as the vigilante in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk, Cox is also preparing for his own Disney Plus show — Daredevil: Born Again.

At the time of writing, it's uncertain what's actually going to happen in the new series. As it’s unclear whether or not the Netflix series is actually canon, many believe we will see some repeated events in the new show. Is that true?

Is Daredevil: Born Again a reboot?

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Cox explained that there's still a lot of uncertainty surrounding the project. While it's clear that the project will be a huge undertaking for Marvel, the actor revealed that he has yet to read anything created for the show. Yes, Cox has met writers for the series, but he hasn't been told plot- specific details... supposedly.

He said:

“I know what everyone else knows, which is a great feeling because I can’t spoil anything. I met some of the writers for the first time last night. I haven’t read anything. I’m psyched to discover how they’re gonna—what stories they’re gonna tell over that long period of time. Tonally what it’s going to be like. How is it different, how is it the same. You know, Kevin [Feige] has been very clear about it being Season 1 — not a Season 4 —it’s a whole new deal.”

Most interestingly, Cox revealed that Daredevil: Born Again may end up repeating storylines from the Netflix show. Similar to a new comic book run, the series could jump to any established story and retell it for a new audience.

“In a way, what's great about that is, that we potentially get to tell the same stories over and over again in the same way that they do in the comics, you know. Every now and again, they start back at the beginning of Murdock's journey as a little boy and they tell the whole origin story again. So maybe we'll get to do that, I don't know."

Everyone loves Cox

In the interview, Cox was told that his return as Daredevil is all anyone cares about in the current MCU. Between Spider-Man, She-Hulk, Echo — which he can't confirm he's in — and Born Again, Matt Murdock's return is the main MCU draw right now.

“I'm horrified by any kind of, form of, flattery. It gets a little embarrassing,” Cox said. “So when you get a reaction like that, it's like, it just feels surreal. Like, you can't quite imagine it. So, yea, I feel really emotional."
The actor revealed that coming back for Daredevil: Born Again — as well as other projects — is a “dream come true”. He said:

"It's a bizarre experience to have played this character, to have the experiences I've had with this character and the journey that we've been on with the show. For that to be finished and ended, and in my mind and heart, it's over, and then to be yanked back in suddenly, and suddenly we're starting again, and it's all happening again. It feels like a dream."
