Chris Hemsworth will keep playing Thor until they forcibly kick him out

Fans are eager for Marvel’s upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, especially with the film’s debut of Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor. However, with the new Lady Thor’s arrival, many MCU fans are worried that this could be the last time we see Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder.

Don’t fret, fans. If Hemsworth’s words are anything to go by, it looks like beloved Aussie actor will be around for quite some time. But what would it take for Hemsworth to be replaced?

This role, I like it!

With many speculating that Thor: Love and Thunder could be the end of Hemsworth’s time with the iconic Marvel hero, Extra actually asked the actor if this was true. At first, Hemsworth gave the standard “I don’t know,” as the actor feels that his time with the character is limited and could end at any time.

Unsurprisingly, Hemsworth was pressed on the issue, where he claimed that he loves being Thor and could play the character until Marvel physically kicks him out. Considering how much secrecy these actors have to agree towards, this could just be Hemsworth lying to us so that he won’t spoil anything. Sure wish this was something Tom Holland did more often.

"I love it, I love it. I'll come back for more and more until someone kicks me off the stage, you know. I love it,” claims Hemsworth. “My whole career has been based around me playing this character and to come back again and again and play it with different directors and different casts has been an absolute joy. And, yeah, we'll see what the fans want, and I don't know, I'm down for whatever is enjoyable and having a good time. That's what this experience in the Marvel world has been for me, so bring it on."

Is he bluffing?

Before we start being happy about Hemsworth possibly staying in the MCU after Thor: Love and Thunder, it’s worth noting that the actor previously told GamesRadar “I'd like to exit before people tell me to exit." That totally goes against what Hemsworth just said, though he could be referring to fans and not Marvel Studios.

Once again, actors who work on Marvel, DC, and Star Wars usually have to keep things close to the chest so we can’t blame Hemsworth for not saying too much. Nobody wants to spoil a movie that they’re watching but we won’t complain if Hemsworth’s Thor does stay on for more MCU appearances.

Thor: Love and Thunder is coming to theaters on July 8, 2022.
